Penpot 2.4 brings viewer roles, version history, new .penpot file format, and more
Penpot, the open-source user interface design software and Figma alternative, has launched version 2.4, introducing a suite of enhancements aimed at improving user collaboration and workflow efficiency. A notable update is the ability to invite team members, stakeholders, or developers to view and comment on files without editing access, facilitating broader participation in the design process.
Version history is another significant addition, allowing users to save and revisit different stages of their design projects. This feature includes automatic saves for backup purposes, as well as the option for manual saves, providing users with comprehensive control over their design timelines.
The introduction of the new .penpot
file format is set to enhance file and asset import/export processes by offering a more efficient and interoperable option, replacing the previous formats and eliminating the risk of selecting the incorrect one.
Additionally, a new keyboard shortcut, Alt+N
for Windows/Linux and Option+N
for Mac, has been implemented to quickly activate renaming mode for selected layers in the Design Tab, streamlining the design editing experience.
