Manjaro 24.2 Yonada released with Linux kernel 6.12, GNOME 47, KDE Plasma 6.2, & Xfce 4.18

Manjaro has announced the release of version 24.2, code-named “Yonada”, for its Arch-based Linux distribution. The update is powered by the Linux 6.12 kernel series, incorporating the latest drivers. Users also have the option to utilize the Linux 6.6 LTS and 6.1 LTS kernels, which provide extended support for older hardware configurations.

The release features GNOME 47, offering new accent colors, enhanced user experience on lower resolution screens, and improved support for hardware encoding on Intel and AMD GPUs during screen recording. Additionally, KDE Plasma 6.2 is included, featuring a transition to Qt 6 and Wayland, improved functionality for drawing tablet users, and an updated System Settings’ Accessibility page, among others.

Manjaro 24.2 also includes the Xfce 4.18 desktop environment, which brings an improved Thunar file manager, an enhanced panel with new preferences, and a refined Control Centre. These updates aim to provide a more streamlined and efficient user experience across various desktop environments.
