Drupal 11.1 released with enhanced recipes, class-based hooks, and improved workspaces
Drupal has launched version 11.1 of its content management system, following the announcement of version 11 several months ago. This update enhances the recipe system, introduces class-based hooks, and offers more flexibility in Workspaces, alongside performance improvements.
The updated recipe system now allows user input and supports configuration actions for tasks like adding blocks and enabling layout builders. The hook system sees advancements with object-oriented techniques aligning with modern PHP practices. Workspaces UI has been separated into its own module, requiring installation for new sites wanting the interface.
Additional features include a dedicated icon management API, enhanced installation experience, a new entity reference views filter, and improved caching mechanisms. Drupal 11.1 also supports PHP 8.4. This version will serve as the foundation for Drupal CMS 1.0, set to release on January 15, coinciding with Drupal's 24th birthday. Meanwhile, Drupal 10.4, the next Long-Term Support release, is expected later this week, with support continuing until Drupal 12's release in 2026.
