Signal enhances calling features with group call links and improved controls

Signal has introduced new features to enhance its calling capabilities, such as generating call links for group calls without needing an existing group chat. These links come with admin controls that let hosts approve participants before they join, ensuring a secure environment. A new raise hand button helps maintain conversation flow by allowing participants to indicate their desire to speak, while emoji reactions offer a quick way for users to provide visual feedback during calls.

Call links can be reused for recurring meetings, and Signal now supports group calls with up to 50 participants, offering a more reliable alternative to other popular group meeting services like Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Zoom.

Additionally, a dedicated calls tab has been added to the home screen on Android, iOS, and Desktop platforms, making it easier to access call history and manage call links. Enhanced participant views on Desktop, including Grid, Sidebar, and Speaker views, offer customizable visual experiences. With updated call control settings, users can better manage camera, microphone, and speaker functions.
