1Password enhances developer experience with new dedicated space and tools on desktop
1Password has unveiled a new update for its desktop apps, providing a dedicated space for 1Password Developer, a suite of tools aimed at enhancing developer security and workflows. Previously, these developer features and settings were somewhat hidden within menus or individual items, making it more challenging to manage credentials like SSH keys and API tokens. With the latest update, users will find the built-in SSH Agent, 1Password CLI, and Developer Watchtower easily accessible on 1Password for Mac, Windows, and Linux.
This release marks a shift in how developer credentials are handled, elevating them to the same level of manageability and security as passwords and passkeys. Additionally, the update introduces secure logging of recent SSH agent activity, allowing users to monitor the usage of their SSH keys. This logging feature is just the beginning, with more enhancements to the developer experience planned for future releases.
