Notion launches standalone app 'Notion Calendar,' replacing Cron Calendar

Notion has launched a new standalone calendar app, "Notion Calendar" as part of its strategy to become an all-in-one workspace. The app is a rebranded version of the Cron Calendar app, which Notion acquired in 2022, now upgraded with Notion's features and design. The former Cron app has been discontinued, with its website now redirecting to the Notion Calendar page (Cron users shouldn't feel too lost though, as most features have been migrated).

As expected, Notion Calendar has deep integration with the main Notion app, allowing users to link or create Notion documents within calendar invites and add due dates from databases to their calendars. Among the notable offerings of the app is the built-in scheduling, a key feature inherited from Cron, providing an alternative to services like Calendly or Cal.com.

Additional functionalities of the app include multiple time zone support, connecting multiple accounts, joining meetings, opening attachments from the Mac menu bar, and iOS 17+ lock screen widget support. Just keep in mind that while it integrates well with tools like Google Calendar, Zoom, Google Meet, and even Arc Browser, it currently doesn't support other widely used platforms like Outlook.com, although cross-platform support is expected due to Notion's multi-platform nature. The app is initially available for Mac, Windows, and iOS, with Android support to come.

Our take: If for some reason you want to explore other alternatives, you might want to check out Rise Calendar, Fantastical, Amie, or the recently launched HEY Calendar.
