MX Linux launches v23.2 'Libretto' based on Linux Kernel 6.6 and Debian 12.4 "Bookworm"

MX Linux, a Debian and antiX-based Linux distribution, has launched its latest 23.2 version, named “Libretto”. This new release includes multiple bug fixes, kernel updates, and application upgrades. Libretto is built on Debian 12.4 “Bookworm” and offers KDE Plamsa, Xfce, and Fluxbox desktop environments.

The new version presents several installer updates, addressing fstab generation, GUI simplification, and rectifications for users of the “toram” live feature. MX Linux 23.2 introduces a new tool, “MX Locale”, for managing system locale information and default language. Additionally, a new tool, “papirus-folder-colors”, has been added for creating papirus-family themes with varying folder colors.

The primary Xfce and Fluxbox ISOs have been updated to the latest 6.1 kernel. The Advanced Hardware Support (AHS) version, on the other hand, includes the 6.6 Liquorix kernel. The KDE Plasma ISO replaces Webcamoid with Kamoso in this version, while the Xfce and Fluxbox ISOs swap Webcamoid for Guvcview.

The 23.2 version now includes “build-essential” packages on ISO, catering to users who may need to compile a driver offline. The update also includes PipeWire 1.0, an updated manual, numerous enhancements, a new wallpaper option, and updated languages.
