Microsoft Teams introduces 3D meetings via Mesh platform for enhanced VR work experiences

Microsoft Teams has officially introduced 3D meetings through its Microsoft Mesh platform, available on the Teams desktop app and Meta Quest VR headsets for Microsoft 365/Teams Premium users. The 3D meetings provide immersive spaces for different productivity and social activities, where users can navigate the 3D space with customizable avatars and spatial audio for an interactive experience.

Teams Admins can also facilitate 3D meetings without VR headsets through the Teams admin center, allowing users to participate in regular Teams meetings with a personalized 3D avatar. Commercial customers can create larger, bespoke immersive spaces using a No-code editor and the Mesh toolkit, customizing the 3D meeting experience to their needs.

Mesh in Teams is available under various licensing options, such as Microsoft Teams Essentials, Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Microsoft 365 Business Standard, and the advanced Microsoft 365 E3/E5 enterprise plans. You can read the complete details and costs of plans in the official announcement.
