TikTok officially adds a feature for labeling AI-generated content

TikTok has unveiled a new feature that enables creators to label content generated with artificial intelligence (AI) tools. The feature, which was initially spotted by users last month, was officially announced in a recent blog post by the company.

According to TikTok's existing user guidelines, disclosure of AI tool usage in content creation is mandatory. With the new feature, creators will be prompted to activate an "AI" label, to be displayed below their username in the corner of the video. The company has also issued a warning that failure to disclose AI tool usage could result in content removal.

In an effort to further streamline this process, TikTok plans to test automatic labeling of AI-generated content this week, as AI-generated content, both user-generated and company-generated, has become increasingly prevalent on the platform (Musical content not by the real artists, political campaigns, hate messages... well, you name it, it's probably there).
