Anthropic launches Claude Pro, a premium subscription plan for its advanced AI Chatbot

Anthropic has introduced Claude Pro, a premium subscription plan for its AI chatbot, Claude 2, which received a major update a couple of months ago. Priced at $20 per month in the U.S, Claude Pro offers five times more usage than the free version, the ability to send more messages, priority access during peak times, and early access to new features. The pricing is similar to the ChatGPT Plus subscription, which is arguably the biggest competitor to Claude at the moment.

Claude has been chosen by users as their preferred AI assistant due to its longer context windows, quick response times, and superior reasoning abilities. Now, with Claude Pro subscribers can send at least 100 messages to Claude 2 within an eight-hour window, which is twice the 50-message limit of ChatGPT Plus.

Anthropic has set these message limits to manage the substantial computational resources required to run an advanced AI model like Claude 2. Longer conversations and large attachments can deplete the message limit more quickly, as Claude 2 reviews the entire conversation, including attachments, for each message. The company's ultimate goal is to develop a "next-gen algorithm for AI self-teaching" to create virtual assistants capable of tasks such as responding to emails, conducting research, and generating art and books.
