TikTok expands creative options with new Text-Composition posts, mirroring Instagram stories
TikTok has introduced a new text-composition feature that allows users to share written content such as stories, poems, and lyrics, quite similar to what we can do on Instagram. This feature is accessible from the Camera page in the app, where users can select "text" and enhance their posts with location tags, comments, Duets, as well as customization options like background colors, hashtags, and stickers.
The text post feature offers an auditory experience as well, as sounds can be integrated into the posts. Similar to TikTok's other posts, these text entries can be saved as drafts for future editing or deleted if not meant for public sharing.
TikTok's previous expansion included static images along with its short videos, which was well-received despite initial criticism. The company aims to replicate the success of its photo mode with this new text feature, providing another platform for users to express their creativity through writing. We have seen several interesting experiments from the company lately, such as their new AI chatbot 'Tako' or the launch of their new streaming music service, currently limited to certain countries.
