Oracle updates VirtualBox to version 7.0.10: Enhancements, bug fixes, and new Linux Kernel support
Oracle has recently updated VirtualBox to version 7.0.10, introducing a range of improvements and bug fixes, including performance enhancements for the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The update also addresses performance issues that were previously affecting the Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) for macOS Ventura. Additionally, graphics bugs affecting Windows 11 guests and a crash related to TPM 1.2 have been resolved. The new version of VirtualBox now supports Linux kernel versions 6.5 and 6.4.
The update also includes GUI enhancements, for example, users can now run Ubuntu within a window on a Windows system. The handling of Guest Control/VBoxManage parameters has been improved, and the audio functionality now uses the PulseAudio backend when pipewire-pulse is active, instead of defaulting to ALSA. The update has also adjusted the UDP proxy timeout for NAT connections to respect a 20-second timeout range and has added initial support for Indirect Branch Tracking for Linux hosts.
General improvements have been made to the installer area on Solaris hosts, and kernel module signing condition checks have been enhanced for Linux hosts and guests. Support for RHEL versions 8.8 and 8.9 has been added. Linux Guest Additions will no longer rebuild kernel modules on each boot when X11 is not installed, and a kernel panic caused by the vboxvideo module reloading in some guests has been resolved. Lastly, there have been general improvements to the Windows Guest Additions, particularly concerning graphics drivers. The list is extensive, so we invite you to discover all the details in the official changelog.
