Outlook.com hit by DDoS attacks from Anonymous Sudan: Microsoft 365, OneDrive, and Teams affected too

Outlook.com , the popular email service from Microsoft, was hit by several Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks over the last few days. The attack was carried out by the pro-Russian hackers Anonymous Sudan, who also targeted Microsoft's other services like OneDrive, Teams, and Microsoft 365. Due to the attack, users were unable to access their emails and work on those services.

The attack started on Monday and continued until today, causing significant inconvenience to millions of users worldwide. Microsoft added mitigations to counter the attack and said that the service is stable again.

The hacktivist gang, Anonymous Sudan, said on Telegram that they want to humiliate Microsoft and launched an anti-US campaign after the US interference in Sudanese internal affairs. They have also hit ChatGPT with a “test attack”, and they threaten to target any US company.

Microsoft has assured its users that it takes the security of its services seriously and will continue to work to prevent such attacks in the future. However, the recent attack on Outlook.com has once again raised concerns about the security of online services and the need for stronger measures to protect them from cyber attacks.
