Fedora Workstation 39 to introduce modern Anaconda Web UI Installer
Fedora Workstation 39 may bring significant improvements to its installation process through the adoption of the Anaconda Web UI installer as the default method for installation. Under development for over a year, the Anaconda Web UI installer is now nearing implementation, aiming to improve the user experience with a modern and user-friendly process.
The installer includes some key features like a new welcome screen for language selection, timezone and date configuration, disk selection, guided partitioning, review configuration, installation progress tracking, and built-in help. The backend of the new installer leverages Python, D-Bus, Cockpit Project, and React / Patternfly to address known user experience issues.
In general these are great news, as one of the driving factors behind the adoption of the new Anaconda Web UI installer is the outdated nature of the existing GTK3-based Fedora installer, known for its inefficiency and security vulnerabilities. So, by introducing the Anaconda Web UI installer as the default installation method, Fedora Workstation 39 ensures to address several user requests over the years.
