YouTube introduces SharePlay support, enhanced video quality and other improvements for Premium subscribers.
YouTube Premium has recently announced a series of improvements to its service aimed at enhancing the user experience. One of the key changes is the addition of support for SharePlay on iOS. This feature allows users to watch videos together in real time while on a video call. While SharePlay is not an exclusive feature of YouTube Premium on iOS, as it is already available in other apps such as Disney+, TikTok, and HBO Max, its integration into YouTube Premium expands online entertainment possibilities. Users of iOS can activate SharePlay from the FaceTime app or from the Messages app. It's worth mentioning that Android users can already access a similar feature through Meet Live Sharing.
Another improvement introduced by YouTube Premium is the video quality on its platform. The new bitrate enhancement, called 1080p, is different from the normal 1080 resolution that free users have access to. The 1080p version aims to offer an even clearer and sharper image that will differentiate it from the free version. It is worth noting that the normal 1080 version will not be affected and will remain available. Additionally, this version will arrive on the web platform in the coming weeks, not just on iOS.

Moreover, YouTube Premium has added a new feature that will allow tablet and phone users to add videos to the queue from the mobile app, something that was previously only available on the web version of YouTube. This improvement provides greater convenience and facilitates the creation of playlists from mobile devices.

Finally, YouTube Premium has also expanded the feature of continuing to watch videos started on different devices. Now, if a video was being watched from the mobile app and the web is accessed on a desktop PC, a small pop-up will appear at the bottom to resume the video from where it was left off. This improvement provides greater convenience and flexibility for users to continue watching their content on different devices without losing viewing progress or having to navigate between different menus.
