Brave Search achieves full independence from Bing, offering 100% independent search results

Brave Search has achieved complete independence from Bing with 100% independent search results. The company has announced that it has removed all search API calls to Bing from its search results page, which means that users can get fully independent search results without compromising their privacy. Therefore, Brave Search is now one of the few independent search engines that provides results almost entirely from its own index, reducing its reliance on existing Big Tech options such as Bing and Google.

The milestone was achieved due to the rapid adoption of its search engine, which is now averaging around 22 million queries per day. The Brave Search team has also improved the search engine's ability to answer nuanced and long-tail queries, providing users with high-quality results, and let's not forget that it recently added features based on the use of artificial intelligence such as an AI-Powered Summarizer. In addition, Brave Search has launched its own search API, which will allow developers and companies to build search experiences that compete on quality with Big Tech.

Users can support the growth of the Brave Search index and results quality by opting into the Web Discovery Project. This project allows Brave browser users to contribute anonymous browsing data to increase the relevance and nuance of Brave Search results. Brave Search users can also use Goggles to re-rank and filter search results from the Brave Search index according to their preferences. Although the removal of all Bing API calls may impact some queries or language-specific results, users are encouraged to submit feedback to help improve the search experience. The more people use Brave and Brave Search, the better the search index becomes, driving privacy and security across the web.

Our take: Brave is a promising newcomer in the search engine market, but now with its focus on privacy, along with its own web index, sets it apart from other privacy-focused search engines right now. With the growing demand for privacy-focused options, tools such as Brave Search or Mojeek have a bright future ahead among people who are seeking alternatives so as not to worry about the already known site-trackers that are Google and Bing.

"Brave Search is now the only global, independent search engine that serves results almost exclusively from its own index" - did you forget about Mojeek?

You're right, Brave has claimed it on their blog, but Mojeek has also been independent from before (although with some differences, but still). I've made a few changes to that part. Thanks for the heads up! 🙂

Mojeek isn't as good imo
