Nextcloud Hub 7 launches with enhanced Unified Search, new AI model support, and more
Nextcloud has announced the release of Nextcloud Hub 7, its latest and “most integrated platform yet”. The new version introduces an enhanced Unified Search feature, capable of locating chat messages, emails, calendar items, documents, and even external content such as support tickets or memes.
Nextcloud Hub 7 has also improved its out-of-office status functionality. Users can now set their availability settings to reflect their out-of-office status, which is then displayed not only in emails but also in Calendar and Talk, notifying others of their absence.
The update includes an expanded selection of AI models. Aleph Alpha, a Large Language Model developed in Germany, has been added to the Nextcloud Assistant. This model is ideal for users who require remote AI services but want assurance that their data remains within Europe. Additionally, the on-premises Stable Diffusion model by Stability AI is now available for local image generation.
A tech preview of a new feature for the Nextcloud Assistant, Context Chat, has also been introduced. The feature enables the Nextcloud assistant to reference emails, files, chat messages, and more to answer user queries about these items.
Nextcloud Hub 7 also introduces several other features and improvements. These include Live Photo support on iOS, EXIF metadata support in the Photo app, an enhanced Files app, PDF annotation support, options for customizing the navigation bar, and accessibility improvements, among others.
