Strava launches new 3D video map feature, Flyover, for premium subscribers

Strava has launched a new feature, Flyover, offering users a 3D video map to review their GPS activities. The feature, enabled through the integration of 3D mapping platform FATMAP, is exclusive to premium Strava subscribers.

Fatmap, initially designed to provide high-resolution maps for ski resorts, has evolved to include data from satellite and aerospace companies, becoming a comprehensive mapping tool for outdoor activities.

Users can access Flyover by selecting a GPS-based activity and clicking the "flyover" button, and the feature can also visualize 3D video maps of past activities stored in user profiles.

The Flyover feature has been gradually rolled out to Android users in recent months, and will be available to iOS users from early December, although there's no official announcement yet on its availability for web users.
