Kiteworks has acquired German companies ownCloud and DRACOON, as well as the UK's Maytech
Kiteworks, a top-tier provider of data privacy and compliance solutions, is strengthening its foothold in the European and UK markets. The company, which specializes in risk management for sensitive content communications, recently entered into a merger agreement with two German companies leaders in the secure file sharing and collaboration sector, DRACOON and ownCloud. The objective is to fortify Kiteworks' presence in the DACH market while advancing its global content security and compliance platform. DRACOON and ownCloud, renowned for their commitment to data privacy and compliance, will contribute to Kiteworks' vision by enhancing data governance and controls, especially for regulated industries.
The merger aligns seamlessly with Kiteworks' core values of prioritizing data privacy. The commitment to single-tenant hosting and key management, shared by DRACOON and ownCloud, ensures total privacy for customer data. The three companies collectively adhere to rigorous certification and compliance standards, including SOC 2 Type II, FedRAMP Authorized, ISO 27001, 27017, and 27018.
Notably, the merger grants Kiteworks immediate access to the expanding European customer bases of the two companies, particularly in the DACH market. Recognizing the importance of local presence, Kiteworks plans further investments in on-the-ground teams and infrastructure to support its European clientele effectively.
In parallel, Kiteworks has also extended its influence in the UK market through the acquisition of Maytech, a key player in data file transfer solutions with products such as Quatrix. This strategic move emphasizes Kiteworks' dedication to the managed file transfer (MFT) market. Maytech customers will seamlessly integrate into the Kiteworks-enabled Private Content Network, gaining access to advanced security and compliance features. The acquisition ensures strict compliance with regulations such as ISO 27001/27017/27018, SOC 2 Type II, FedRAMP, and Cyber Essentials Plus.
