Google Assistant to remove note and list system and move it to Google Keep instead

Google is preparing to upgrade Google Assistant the Shopping List and Note features and move them to Google Keep. This change is expected to be smooth and will not require any user intervention.

The current "Lists and Notes" and Google Shopping List platforms are considered outdated and non-native to Android. The transition to Google Keep will automatically move notes and lists, with exceptions for certain large files and family notes created on Smart Displays. These may not be transferred and will only be available via Google Takeout until May 1, 2024.

The migrated Shopping List and Assistant notes/lists will be identifiable in Google Keep through a specific chip. The migration process will begin this month and is expected to take a few minutes for most users, though it could take longer for some. After the transition, users will be able to manage their notes and lists in Google Keep using Google Assistant, by enabling access in Assistant Settings Notes & Lists Google Keep. This update follows athe recent transition of reminders to Google Tasks and the discontinuation of third-party Notes & Lists integration.
