YouTube's latest update brings quick 2x playback, an AI song finder, and more new features
Google has introduced several new features on YouTube to improve user experience and control. One of these is the Quick 2x Playback Speed, which allows users to watch videos at double the normal speed by pressing and holding anywhere on the video player in either full screen or portrait mode.
Another addition is the Lock Screen option, which will prevent accidental pauses or controls during video playback. This feature is supplemented by the Stable Volume Mode, which keeps a steady audio level throughout the video on mobile. Google will also launch an AI Song Finder feature on Android devices, allowing users to find songs on YouTube by playing, singing, or humming a tune into the app (something we reported a few months back).
There are also several UI design changes, including replacing the Library tab on mobile and web versions with a new You tab, which will showcase previously watched videos, playlists, downloads, and purchases, while also incorporating the functions of the Account tab with account settings. More changes can be found in the official announcement, and it's worth noting that these updates will be gradually implemented over the next few weeks for users on web, tablet and mobile devices.
