PS5 Cloud Game Streaming for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers starting on October 17
Sony is set to launch PS5 cloud game streaming on the PS5 console, a direct competitor to GeForce NOW and Xbox Cloud Gaming (although unlike these, cloud gaming with PS5 games will still require a PlayStation 5 console). This feature will be accessible only for Playstation Plus Premium subscribers, Sony's highest level subscription service. The service will be released in phases, starting from October 17th in Japan, followed by Europe on October 23rd, and North America on October 30th.
Subscribers will have the ability to choose their preferred streaming resolution, with options of 4K, 1440p, 1080p, and 720p. Initially, the PS5 game streaming will be limited to PS5 consoles, but there are plans to extend this to other devices in the future, similar to how other alterantives game streaming alternatives works.
The exact list of games available at the initial launch has yet to be specified, but you can see some of those that are likely to be available initially in this trailer.
This move follows Sony's recent introduction of their new movie streaming and rental service, also offered to Plus subscribers, in an attempt to make the suscription service more appealing compared to services like Xbox Game Pass
