Omnivore open-source read-later service: October updates with enhanced features

Omnivore, the open-source read-it-later service, has released a lof of new updates from Octuber, including support for RSS/Atom feeds, colored highlights, Saved Searches, and bug fixes. The browser extension has been upgraded to allow users to create labels and cache notes. The Saved Searches feature has been simplified and the Obsidian Plugin Colors feature has been introduced to allow multiple highlight colors on the web.

The Omnivore Community List Popup Extension has been made available for Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome, offering quick access to the Omnivore library. The macOS app has also been updated with an improved list view, self-hosting options, and login enhancementsm while mobile updates include Ultra Realistic Voices for text-to-speech for iOS users, and support for self-hosted backends and release builds on GitHub for Android users.

Web users can now manage account details such as names, usernames, email addresses, and login methods (as well as a new font, IBM Plex Sans). PDF updates include a new thumbnail sidebar in the viewer and an option to hide the toolbar in display settings. As you can see, this update is packed with changes, but the company also revealed that among its future plans for Omnivore is improving self-hosting by removing the Elastic search dependency and adding a right menu bar for enhanced web functionality.
