Microsoft reverses policy about OneDrive Photo storage quota, following user feedback

Microsoft has reversed its decision to count OneDrive photos and photo albums data against users' overall cloud storage quota. Initially announced in August and set to roll out on October 16, 2023, the tech giant has now decided against this change following user feedback. This means users can continue to use their photo album as before without affecting their storage quota.

In the same announcement, Microsoft has revealed two other changes affecting its cloud storage and Microsoft 365 services. From February 1, 2023, cloud storage used across Microsoft 365 apps and services will encompass data from Outlook.com attachments and OneDrive. Although this could potentially reduce available cloud storage for OneDrive users, all data will remain safeguarded by Microsoft's comprehensive security features. Users should be aware that reaching their cloud storage quota could disrupt the ability to send and receive emails in Outlook.com.

Additionally, starting November 30, 2023, Microsoft 365 Personal and Microsoft 365 Family subscribers will lose the ability to create a new email address for any personalized domain linked to their Outlook.com mailbox.
