Arc Browser introduces AI-powered features 'Arc Max' using OpenAI and Anthropic models

Arc Browser has launched AI-powered features called "Arc Max," using OpenAI's GPT-3.5 and Anthropic's models. Similar to other AI assistants like Microsoft Copilot or the recently announced Aria from Opera, users can interact with ChatGPT to ask questions related to the current webpage (They call this 'Ask ChatGPT').

Arc Max offers unique features like automatic renaming of pinned tabs based on the page title and renaming downloaded files based on their content, which improves user navigation and organization. There's is also the ability to provide a preview summary of a link when users hover over it and press the shift key, so you can thus know what you will find in that link without the need to open it if you don't want to (somehow similar to Wikipedia). Users can activate these features by typing "Arc Max" in the command bar (Cmd + T) and selecting the desired features. To use ChatGPT, users need to type "ChatGPT" in the command bar and enter their questions.

The company has experimented with AI features such as automatic note-taking and transforming the forward button into an exploration page, and plans to use user feedback to determine which features to keep.
