Fall Guys going free to play, launching on Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and Epic Games on June 21st
The popular party battle royale game Fall Guys is going free to play and launching on new platforms starting June 21st.
Developer Mediatonic announced the change in pricing and new platforms for the game via its official website. It also described how the game will be fully cross-platform multiplayer compatible with support for cross-progression that's persistent across all versions of the game via the Epic Games Account system.
Though already available on PC via Steam, the game will be no longer be purchasable or downloadable to new players on the platform. New PC players will instead need to utilize the Epic Games Store to download and launch it. This is the exact move used when Rocket League development studio Psyonix was acquired by Epic and switched to a free-to-play business model.
Until June 21st, Fall Guys is available on PC via Steam and the PlayStation Store for PlayStation 4 and 5 for $20 USD. Players that own the game before the June 21st free to play transition will receive bonus items and other cosmetic content. The Steam version for existing owners will continue to be updated and feature functional parity with the Epic Games Store version.
