Group cross-app messaging between Facebook Messenger and Instagram now live
Facebook's messaging services are seeing further integration today with the launch of the previously announced group cross-app chatting support between Messenger and Instagram.
Though cross-app messaging between Messenger and Instagram with individual users started in earnest back in October of 2020, support for group chats that include both Messenger and Instagram users are rolling out with this update.
In Facebook's words, group cross-app messaging support is as follows:
"With this update, people will be able to start group chats between their Instagram and Messenger contacts. Within these cross-app group chats, you can continue to customize your chat experience with chat themes and custom reactions."
In addition to cross-platform group chats, support for polls is now available in Instagram direct message groups for both Instagram and Messenger. The announcement post also mentioned that Facebook's "number one priority is keeping safety and privacy top of mind."
