Instagram bug causing follower counts to be drastically inaccurate

almost 4 years ago by IanDorfman

Early this morning, the photo sharing social network Instagram acknowledged on Twitter that a bug is causing some users to have inaccurate follow counts.

Prominent Twitter users that also have high amounts of Instagram followers expressed their frustration about the situation, including James Charles and Stephanie Duran. According to Steve Bartlett, CEO of the Social Chain Group, some of his company's clients have lost millions of followers overnight.

As Instagram's acknowledgement tweet states, the site's development team is looking to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. No timetable has been set.
