Version 8 of the Tor Browser has been released

The Tor Project's privacy-focused web browser has just reached another milestone release.

The latest version release of the Tor Browser, version 8, is the first one based on version 60 of Small Mozilla Firefox iconMozilla Firefox. One of the most notable changes in this release is a new user onboarding process that explains the fundamentals of how Tor Browser functions and focuses on protecting individual users' browsing history from third parties.

For users in situations where access to the Small Tor iconTor network is blocked, Tor Browser 8.0 also implements improved support for bridge IP addresses in order to circumvent the block. Now, all that's needed for users to gain access to a bridge is to solve a captcha to prove that they're human.

Other major improvements include utilizing updated versions of Small HTTPS Everywhere iconHTTPS Everywhere, libevent, Small NoScript iconNoScript, Small OpenSSL iconOpenSSL, and more.

Version 8.0 of Small Tor Browser iconTor Browser is available now for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
