Microsoft discontinuing support for multiple Windows Phone 7.5 and 8.0 features
Microsoft announced via its support forum that it is discontinuing support for multiple features in its Windows Phone 7 and 8 mobile operating systems as of February 20th.
Features that are being discontinued include notifications, live tile updates, and the "find my phone" feature of devices running Windows 7.5 and 8.0. Microsoft stated that, as these operating systems have "reached their end of support dates," the services that have been included with them will be "discontinued over time."
Microsoft also noted that, "at this time," Windows Phone 8.1 will continue to support all notification features and that Windows 10 Mobile is still "fully supported." This "full support" does not change the fact that Microsoft announced that the operating system will no longer receive new features or supported hardware back in October of 2017 (see this article by our friends at The Verge).
