Pixelmator Pro Has Been Released - A Look At The Updates

The developers behind Pixelmator, the popular image editing application for macOS and iOS, just released the latest and an upgraded version of the software, Pixelmator Pro. The original Pixelmator application received praise from users, both for its intuitive interface and affordable price. Pixelmator Pro is a much more powerful and advanced version of its predecessor, built with macOS in mind.

Pixelmator Pro includes a variety of improvements and enhancements, compared to the previous version. For starters, the interface has been improved and their focus on user-centered design is clear in the latest update. Compared to some other advanced image editing software, Pixelmator Pro has a low-barrier of entry for new users, but also includes the features that allow you to complete most advanced projects. The UI is smooth and comfortable to work in, as Pixelmator Pro features a single-window UI. All your tools are available to you in one window, no need to juggle different toolbox windows on your screen.

Pixelmator Pro clearly takes advantage of being a native macOS application. Being developed in Swift 4 and utilizing the latest macOS features and capabilities, it looks and feels as though it has been perfectly tailored to macOS's design and function. By utilizing macOS's Core ML framework and Metal 2, Pixelmator Pro is able to offer features such as Automatic Layer Naming, an easier Repair Tool, smarter Quick Selections, and much more. Enhancing, modifying, and editing images is near effortless in the new version.

One of the import features in Pixelmator Pro is its non-destructive image editing. Essentially, this means that any changes or edits you make to an image can be reverted or adjusted at a later point. It also allows you to be selective with changes you may wish to revert, enabling you to undo specific changes, rather than everything up to the point you wish to revert to.

Overall, Pixelmator Pro is a great application for image editing and graphics. It is great to see the developers are working to utilize the latest capabilities of macOS as well, and hopefully this trend continues in future updates. The new version is currently being offered at a special price during its release, at just $60 (no subscription licensing), it seems to be a great deal. It is also important to remember, that while this may lack some of the advanced features as more mature applications, such as Adobe Photoshop , this is 1.0 version of Pixelmator Pro and we can expect that there will be many improvements and features added in future updates. With that said, if you're on the market for an alternative to Photoshop, Pixelmator Pro is worth checking out.

For those of you that are still using the original Pixelmator, you won't be left behind, as the developers plan to continue releasing updates for Pixelmator. While you may be missing out on the latest macOS features integrated into Pixelmator Pro, if you don't require them, then you still have a quality image editing application.

There are many features in Pixelmator Pro that we didn't get to touch on in this article. If you'd like to learn more about Pixelmator Pro and the features included in the new version, be sure to check their website here. Pixelmator Pro is also available on the Mac App Store.
