Since the
Cambridge Analytica scandal and the use of data from millions of
Facebook accounts, the social network has been under increasing pressure. Mark Zuckerberg may have apologized, but it's not enough. The Facebook action dropped and a
#deletefacebook campaign was launched, supported by the former head of
WhatsApp. More recently, many other scandals came up about its
security and its total disrespect for users' privacy.
But is it easy to leave Facebook? And what are good alternatives for the various services owned and operated by Facebook?
First of all, if you wish to keep using Facebook, I would strongly recommend that you install
Facebook Container in order to isolate your Facebook identity into a separate container and make it harder for Facebook to track your visits to other websites with third-party cookies. I'd also suggest to use
uBlock Origin to block most ads and trackers while you're on Facebook or
Instagram.
