Popularized by the ever relevant World of Warcraft, MMORPGs take what people enjoy about traditional single-player role playing games and allows them to experience that content with other people across the world in real time. In order to accommodate this, the worlds of MMORPGs are oftentimes much more expansive than those found in traditional RPGs, allowing people to lose themselves in fantasy worlds while potentially forging bonds with others. In a way, MMORPGs can be seen as a type of social network.
