What is ZPLab?

ZPLab is an open-source visual ZPL editor and label designer for ZPL (Zebra Programming Language), used by Zebra and other ZPL-compatible printers. Labels can be built visually with text, barcodes, shapes and images while the generated ZPL remains visible and editable, with syntax highlighting and a searchable command reference.

It supports 28 barcode symbologies, dedicated GS1-128 and GS1 DataMatrix modes, GS1 and EAN/UPC validation, importing and editing existing ZPL, and preservation of unchanged source where possible. Text and barcode fields can be mapped to CSV columns for batch generation, producing one label per row.

ZPLab runs in the browser with no installation or account, and as a desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux that prints to connected printers directly, adds Excel and database sources, and can render previews on the printer itself. The web build can also be self-hosted. ZPLab is licensed under the MIT License.
