Zof CLI is an open-source command-line tool for inspecting software changes locally. It checks changed source lines for a documented set of static risks and reports findings with severity, file and line information.

Captured Zof CLI 0.1.2 output from a synthetic TypeScript example. Static verification reports a dynamic-evaluation finding and exit code 1. The eval call was not executed; no tests were run.

What is Zof CLI?

Zof CLI is an open-source command-line tool for inspecting software changes locally. It checks changed source lines for a documented set of static risks and reports findings with severity, file and line information. It also inspects import relationships, produces JSON verification evidence, and evaluates evidence against local policies.

Developers can inspect explicit files or Git revisions. Test commands run only when configured and invoked with --allow-exec; static verification does not execute tests. Reports distinguish a completed successful check, configured failures and incomplete or invalid execution.

The published npm release runs without a Zof account or hosted upload. File-based workflows require Linux or macOS, Node.js 22 or 24 and Python 3.10 or newer. The heuristic checks can miss issues or flag benign code; their results support review and do not establish release safety.
