What is Wonder History?

Wonder History is a reading application for web, Android and iOS containing a library of illustrated history stories. Stories are read in-app with synchronised audio narration, so the text can be followed while it is read aloud, and each story is available in twelve languages with narration recorded in each one.

The library covers wars and turning points, rulers and builders, discoveries, inventions and the moments that changed how people lived. Each story is written to stand on its own, with the historical context explained in plain language rather than assumed, so a reader can start anywhere.

Every story is built to the same structure: ten pages, an original illustration on every page, and full narration. The ten-page limit is deliberate - it is short enough to finish in one sitting, which is what brings a reader back the next day.

There are two audience sections, Kids and Adults, chosen by the reader. The adult stories are written for adults rather than being simplified children's versions.

Features include offline reading, adjustable text size, a reading position that syncs across devices, and no advertising anywhere in the app. It runs in a browser with no sign-up required, and as native apps on Android and iOS.

Free to read until December 2026. After that a daily free allowance continues and a membership removes the limit.
