What is what3words?
What3words encodes geographic coordinates into 3 dictionary words (for example, the Statue of Liberty is located at planet.inches.most). what3words is different from other alphanumeric location systems and GPS coordinates in that it displays 3 words rather than long strings of numbers or letters. what3words has a website, apps for iOS and Android, as well as an API that enables bidirectional conversion of what3words address and latitude/longitude coordinates. The first 1,000 coordinate conversion requests are free per month. A business plan is available for additional requests.

What3words is doing for GPS coordinates what DNS has done for the internet.
It is much easier to remember words, than convey any location (either with an address or without) on Earth through 3 words. The world is made into grids of 3 x 3 meters, each grid with a unique 3 word representation.
Available in multiple languages, it allows people to meet on a very specific location for festivals, or in the park, or send rescue services to locations, or deliver packages via drones, etc.
