What is WebCalendar for WordPress?
WebCalendar for WordPress is a self-hosted calendar and event-management plugin for WordPress. It stores events in custom database tables built to handle large event volumes and provides month, week, and day views with AJAX navigation.
Events support full RFC 5545 recurrence (daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly patterns), categories and color coding, file attachments via the WordPress Media Library, and a rich text editor. The plugin includes iCal import and export with duplicate detection and calendar URL subscriptions, CSV import and export in an Excel-compatible format, and automatic holidays for more than 100 countries.
For publishing and integration it offers dedicated event pages with Schema.org JSON-LD markup, native Gutenberg blocks, a customizable [webcalendar] shortcode, Elementor and Divi widgets, a mini-calendar sidebar widget, email notifications, and social sharing with Google Maps and OpenStreetMap. A REST API exposes full CRUD operations across 40 endpoints, and an optional built-in MCP (Model Context Protocol) server lets AI assistants read and manage calendar data.
Access is controlled through 34 WordPress capabilities for multi-user permissions, and the interface supports keyboard navigation, ARIA labels, and screen readers. A free edition is available on the WordPress.org plugin directory, with paid tiers adding conflict detection, Google and Outlook calendar subscriptions, and frontend event submissions.
