This app works perfect. I've been using it for years - I'm now on Win10.

I install it on all my PCs and have it set up on every machine the same way: Over taskbar = mute/unmute and over app = raise/lower volume.

Don't be deterred by its somewhat outdated looks – it works like a charm on newer systems. I've been using it on my Windows Vista, and I understand that it also works on Windows 7, even thoug it's not stated on author's site.

I've been using this in conjunction with 3RVX, to great success.

Warning: Setting volume control to taskbar is very addicting, and makes you slightly annoyed by every other system that doesn't have this. IMO all OS manufacturers should implement this asap.

What is Volumouse?

From authors website:

Volumouse provides you a quick and easy way to control the sound volume on your system - simply by rolling the wheel of your wheel mouse.

It allows you to define a set of rules for determining when the wheel will be used for changing the sound volume. For example: You can configure Volumouse to use your mouse wheel for volume control when the Alt key is hold down, when the left mouse button is down, when the mouse cursor is over the taskbar, and so on...

When the conditions that you define are not satisfied, your mouse wheel will be used for the regular scrolling tasks, exactly as before.
