What is vixl?

vixl is a local-first desktop app for coding agents. It is an alternative to Cursor agents, Google Antigravity agents, and VS Code agents. You bring your own API keys, or you use a local OpenAI-compatible host such as Ollama. Progressive tool discovery loads tool and skill detail on demand, so local model prefills stay smaller. It was originally built to run Qwen Flash Next on a Strix Halo machine. Niche daily-drives it for work, about 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. The license is MIT. MCP works over stdio, http, and sse. The macOS build is Apple Silicon only.
