What is VitaCal?

VitaCal estimates calories and macros from a photo of your meal. Point the camera at what you are eating and it returns an editable estimate, so logging a meal takes seconds rather than searching a database for every component.

The free tier includes 5 AI photo scans per week alongside unlimited manual logging, water tracking and a personalised calorie goal. Most AI calorie apps put photo scanning entirely behind a paywall.

It connects to Apple Health on iOS or Health Connect on Android to read sleep, heart rate, HRV, workouts, body weight and cycle data, and writes your nutrition back out. An AI coach answers questions grounded in your own synced data, and you can mint an API token to query that data from Claude or another MCP client.

Meal photos are analysed and immediately deleted. They are never stored on the server.

VitaCal Pro is a weekly, monthly or annual subscription, and the monthly and annual plans start with a 7-day free trial. Pro adds more AI analyses, progress insights and automatic background health sync. The app and the store show the price before you subscribe.
