We have switched from OpenSong to VideoPsalm recently, after having checked out OpenLP. It was very easy to get predefined songbooks and Bibles into VideoPsalm, type-in a new song or adjust lyrics, in a few clicks really. The song search feature is unique, far better than in any other program that I checked. The interface looks similar to Microsoft Office, which I find real cool. Our church has been using VideoPsalm for the past two years. It is wonderful software which offers everything we require. It is feature-rich and largely bulletproof. Even after two years, I am still discovering its capabilities. It may be free, and that was the original reason that we tried it. But we continue to rely on it because it works.
This program is feature loaded and a match to most commercial programs. Fast and stable. Our church has been using it for about ten years now. Runs fine on a 2004 laptop with C2D processor and a dedicated video card. You will need a faster computer ( i7 class) if you want to use the text shadow features.
It is a simple but well complete program, it provides the basic needs of a presentation.
I have recently tried a few Church Presentation software and although there are many good options available (search here to see all the Opensource alternatives), I eventually chose VideoPsalm as I could import my localised songs into VideoPsalm which I just couldn't get imported in any other tried option. And, it had my Bible Translation on its Online Library, also which none of the other had. Kudo's for VideoPsalm to organise the copyright issues (Bibles actually shouldn't have copyrights, but that's another story).
Also available in many localised translations.
