i'd still say this is better than the stock discord client, but that's a low bar. If you're ok with the experience and knowing that some issues you have will not be fixed, it's bearable. I couldn't get rich presence to work with any reliability over many months and multiple devices. Plugin updates will also conflict with older addons and can break the ui.

promising, but needs a better maintainer.
the current vesktop experience looks good at first glance, but when you start using it for a long time, you end up being tired of it, and that's the case for me. there are lots of things that work (or used to work) great, screensharing + sound was implemented long ago making this client a must have for linux users, as other implementations like screenaudio lacked features. but since a few months the client has become less and les useable. first, the client crashes randomly after hours of use, there are days where it won't crash at all, and some others where it'll crash twice in a day, that's not a huge deal in itself but i've been using the client for over a year and it's seriously exhausting that it's not fixed to this day.
second, screensharing on amdgpu/wayland is unusable since months, there are tons of issues opened by the community and the maintained simply sets them as wontfix and locks them, claiming that anyone experiencing this issue has a malfunctioning system, so he refuses to investigate or explain anything to anyone andsimply locks the issue every single time. i'm not a great dev, however i do believe that when dozens of people report the same problem, silencing them won't fix it. this issue has been a huge problem cause it creates extreme artifacting on screenshares and completely makes the client unusable for this task, which is ironic when you think that many people switched to it specifically for the screensharing feature.
the biggest issue that this project has atm is the maintainer. he purposely ignores anyone who doesn't follow his agenda or views, that means he refuses to fix issues that he doesn't consider important, or accept criticism about some controversial choices made during the development. the program logo, originally designed for the macOS release according to the maintainer. however many people raised concerns related to its obvious rainbow look which looks like a hidden LGBT flag, this theory was mostly confirmed by the fact that the dev mocked the critics and responded with an immature comment. this argument besides being rejected by most people still led to the conversation being closed, the PR proposing customizable assets is still not merged despite being proven as fully operational in the equibop fork. there is also the loading gif with a furry that many people asked to either get this removed by default or add a toggle to disable it, claiming that in professional environments this looks very childish and innapropriate. and honestly who could blame them when they're totally right ? who wants to show to their colleagues a twerking furry in a discord client ? the comments criticizing this issue are either removed or marked as spam (yeah, for the maintainer, criticism is spam even if made politely) most issues being opened simply end up being closed, locked and marked as wontfix by the maintainer, this is honestly the most pathetic behavior i've ever seen on github.
i am not even talking about duplicate issues or anything like that, but actual real issues that are simply ignored because it doesn't fit the maintainer's agenda or world views.
tl;dr avoid this client, use goofcord instead which has none of these issues. i've been using vesktop for 2 years and i had to leave it for the awful development cycle, updates are extremely slow to release as well and don't fix many problems either.
edit : the maintainer has disabled the issue tracker on the github repo… i think there's no need to comment further.
