What is Vauban?

Vauban is the only open-source privileged access bastion that opens the industrial process, not only the servers. SSH and RDP still open in the browser and are recorded. An engineering workstation reaches the plant through one tunnel, recorded as PCAP: Modbus, OPC-UA, DNP3, IEC-104, BACnet/SC, MQTT/TLS, and Profinet IO. MCP uses that same gate, so an agent reaches a tool only through the bastion. Free under BSD-2-Clause, written in Rust, self-hosted, with no paid edition. The web UI requires TOTP, Casbin checks each session, and a rule can hold the session until an administrator approves it. Secrets stay encrypted at rest. Capsicum sandboxing targets FreeBSD; the project also builds on Linux without that sandbox.
