    1. Markdown is a text-to-HTML conversion tool for web writers. Markdown allows you to write using an easy-to-read, easy-to-write plain text format, then convert it to structurally valid XHTML (or HTML).

      Discontinued

      Last update was in Dec 2004. The original app is no longer developed but the Markdown language continues in use and support through many other projects.

    2. Pandoc is a Haskell library for converting from one markup format to another, and a command-line tool that uses this library.


    3. ReText is a simple text editor for Markdown and reStructuredText documents with syntax highlighting and optional live preview.
    4. Asciidoctor is a fast text processor and publishing toolchain for converting AsciiDoc content to HTML5, DocBook 5 (or 4.5) and other formats. Asciidoctor is written in Ruby, packaged as a RubyGem and published to RubyGems.org.
