Apps similar to Trickster include Piles for Windows, which is free. Other options are Fresh and Recento. In total there are three apps like Trickster for Mac and Windows.
Piles for Windows creates simple lists, easily launched from the taskbar, containing recently used files from selected folder, and helps you quickly access you newest downloads, documents you worked on lately and any other files you use often.
There are two main areas in Fresh. The top one shows files that Fresh has identified as new to you, currently being edited, etc. When you download a file from the internet, or save an attachment in Mail, or edit a file in Word, it will show up here.
