What is TREK?
A self-hosted, real-time collaborative travel planner — with maps, budgets, packing lists, a journal, and AI built in.
TREK is a self-hosted, open-source travel planner for organizing trips with real-time collaboration. It lets users build day-by-day itineraries, arrange places with drag-and-drop planning, view destinations on interactive maps, manage reservations, track budgets, create packing lists, store travel documents, and export trip plans as PDFs. It also includes collaborative features such as shared trips, live sync, group chat, polls, invite links, and role-based access.
Additional modules cover travel journaling, visited-country tracking, vacation-day planning, weather forecasts, route optimization, and AI assistant integration through MCP. TREK runs on the user’s own server and supports Docker, Kubernetes, PWA installation, OIDC SSO, TOTP two-factor authentication, and backups.
