Translate Like Me

Translate Like Me is a free, open-source macOS menu bar app. Select text in any app, press a shortcut, and the selection is replaced in place with its translation.

It detects the direction between the two languages of a pair automatically, so there is nothing to switch: write in one language and get the other; text in any other language goes to the pair's first language. Up to three language pairs, each on its own global shortcut.

Each pair can carry its own writing style, so a translation sounds like you rather than like a machine; leave the style empty for a plain translation, for example when translating someone else's text.

It runs through Claude, ChatGPT or Grok, either via their official command-line tools with the subscription you already have, or with your own API key. When the target field is read-only, the translation goes to the clipboard and a small popup shows it.
