What is Tor Browser?
The Tor software protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world: it prevents somebody watching your Internet connection from learning what sites you visit, it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location, and it lets you access sites which are blocked.
The Tor Browser lets you use Tor on Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux without needing to install any software. It can run off a USB flash drive, comes with a pre-configured web browser to protect your anonymity, and is self-contained.

Comments and Reviews
I see that the Tor Browser is listed as an "alternative" to Tor. Just so people aren't confused, the Tor Browser uses Tor, so it's not technically an alternative. Tor refers to the network of devices running the software, whereas the browser is a modified version of Firefox that works together with the Tor network. It includes plugins like NoScript, which blocks things like Java, JavaScript, and Flash on different websites, and Torbutton, which allows you to easily change configurations on Tor. Nonetheless, the browser is great, and the developers keep making improvements to it!
Not for you daily-use, but essential tool against tyranny.
The only way to use the Tor network. Total overkill for most (Tor network is too slow for daily browsing), but the only way to remain truly, relatively anonymous whilst browsing, for whistleblowers, journalists, or those evading the government, really sensitive information.
If you are using it, don't modify settings add extensions, or sign in whilst using it to have best anonymity.
Really good at its job of keeping your private web browsing actually private.
The cost of that privacy is mostly that it's slow and won't be able to handle some web applications (either because features have been disabled or because the website blocks Tor), so it's inconvenient for everyday browsing.
But if you need to hide activity from a stalker, an abuser, a harassment campaign, a government, etc. it's worth learning how to use it.
I LOVE the Tor Browser because it hides your identity online, and it also hides your IP. Freedom!
Absolute overkill for most people out there. Only use it if you need to whistleblow on someone/something, or evade totalitarianism. I can't speak on those two uses personally, but I've heard Tor Browser is top notch for them.
Bastion of privacy and anonymity. Not designed as a daily driver because its heavy privacy-preserving features make it slow. Thankful for their work.
