ThreadCast information
What is ThreadCast?
Threads, now a podcast.
ThreadCast turns Reddit into a hands-free podcast. It reads a post and its top comments aloud using natural AI text-to-speech, and gives each commenter their own distinct voice, so a long thread sounds like a real conversation you can follow without looking at the screen.
Everything runs on your own device. The AI voices synthesize locally, so there is no account, no cloud, and nothing about what you read or listen to ever leaves your browser or phone. Once a voice is installed it keeps working offline.
What it does: • Reads the full post plus its top comments, not just the title • A different voice per commenter, with gender-aware matching, so threads feel natural • On-device neural AI voices for human-sounding narration, with your system voices as a lightweight option • A queue to line up several threads and listen back to back • Sleep mode with ambient sounds and a sleep timer for bedtime listening • Private by design: no sign-up, no tracking, no cloud processing of your content
Great for commutes, chores, resting your eyes, or anyone who would simply rather listen than read.
Now live on Android. Free Chrome extension too, with document and webpage reading coming soon.
